INSTITUT DE LA CORROSION SASU
Organisation Introduction
IC is non-profit SME specialized in corrosion (and anti-corrosion) research with headquarters in Brest, France. It divides its activities between industrial R&D projects, commissions and publication-oriented research with both industry and academia. partners. IC is active in numerous industrial sectors, such as steel manufacturing, aerospace, automotive industry, marine corrosion, functional coatings, corrosion sensors, biomedical implants and low-carbon energies (including low-temperature water electrolysis).
Why SWEETHY?
In view of its strong engagement in the field of water electrolysis and given its long-standing expertise in marine corrosion research, the French Corrosion Institute could not miss the 2024 call for projects of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership on direct seawater electrolysis. SWEETHY complete a large portfolio of publicly funded projects and industry commission on low-temperature water electrolysis. SWEETHY aligns with IC’s strategy of strengthening its activities related to low-carbon energy and the energy transition.
What in SWEETHY?
Using our corrosion testing know-how, we’ll help the SWEETHY partners to select the most durable materials withstanding the harsh operation conditions of direct electrolysis of seawater.

“The SWEETHY-project stands at the crossroad of our competences in marine corrosion and low-temperature water electroylsis.”
